Its no wonder that our project wasn't chosen in Miami to be funded,
it turns out that Ashoka who is a partner with Changemakers is
mostly funded by Exxon.

Rolling out new panels in 2010
We are working hard to be able to start production on our latest panels, we are optimistic that if things work out, we should be able to show the fruits of our labor at some of the tradeshows coming up early next year.

New blog
Energy can represent many things to many people, from a feeling, to a spiritual one.
We decided to combine a blog and co-blog with one of the leading energy workers
Hugo Fernando in order to present a very different kind of blog, not just the
technical side.
You can find it here:
All Things Energy
it is on the new Bay Words uncensored blog site.

New to Our Blog?
Please go back to the first month, we have a lot of things we have blogged about
as far as what we are working on, and instead of taking time out every day to do
a blog update, we are only going to blog when we reach a milestone.
So if you are new here, you are going to miss out on a lot unless you backtrack
to the first post.
Thanks for visiting.

Global warming bill
Good or bad?
Global Warming Bill on Yahoo! News
Some of the "right to pollute" profits instead of going back to help
us out, instead will profit the companies, as many of the bids will be
given away. These "rights" are for companies who cannot produce their
goods without some residual polluting (well at least without expensive
and cost prohibitive retrofitting of their factories.)

Exciting new developments
We plan on releasing a youtube video soon of some of our newest discoveries.
One uses Solar Thermal to move a turbine in a hydraulic tube.
The other uses the polarity of water to act as a repelling force of normally
charged water, the Hydro Magnet is a radical development, it is still in its infancy.

Our newest product
I have invented a tobacco free snus, which
has several benefits over traditional stop smoking aides.
It does contain nicotine.
It is very tasty.
It is cheaper than the patch or the gum.
It is less dry in your mouth than other snus.
None of the expensive cigarette taxes apply to our products.
Contains 0% of the cancer causing agents in tobbacco products.*
Contains Nicotine.
Pleasant tasting.
No teeth staining tobacco juices.
Less dry pouch.
Little or no burning sensation from regular snus.
Did I mention it tastes good!?!
So now you can still get your Nicotine fix but do away with
the risk of getting cancer and other nasty illnesses you
would normally run the risk of getting from cigarettes.
I have some pictures I will be posting and setting up a
website for orders etc.
The price will be somewhere between $3 and $4 a can.
Like normal snus, each can will contain 15 pouches,
and last between 15 and 30 minutes.
I will have 2 different strength products. One for nomal
smokers and one for heavy smokers.
I will be meeting with potential investors this week
to try and get a small factory going.
So stop making your teeth brown and get back your
super smile and improve your breath. It will actually
make your breath more pleasant than normal non-smokers.
*******************
We hope to bring this product to the market within the
next 2-3 months internationally, in the meantime, we
will be producing small quantities for immediate resell.

Gas Hydrates in our own back yard
Exerpt:
"A future energy source?
At the sea surface, decomposing hydrate feels like cold Alka Seltzer fizzing and popping on your skin. It's fun to light gas hydrates with a match and watch the hydrocarbons burn like a candle, leaving behind only slightly salty water. Watching gas hydrate burn and produce heat shows its value as an energy source. Right now there is worldwide interest in exploiting energy from hydrates."

Server Energy
A very interesting site if you are a technologist such as myself
and also have an interest in energy:
http://www.ddj.com/go-parallel/?cid=email_ms_entsoft_030609_v2
It is about Parallel Programming and how to make efficient use
of multi core processing.
How does this affect energy?
Power consumption.
More efficient use of power used for processing means less wasted
energy, and we can all agree that is a good thing.
This technology doesn't necessarily lower power
consumption, but it does however allow a more efficient use
of what you are already consuming. Smarter use of energy.
I think eventually that will help lower energy use,
if you can do your work more efficiently and waste less
power, you are less likely to add more processing power,
which means you will ultimately use less power.
Baby steps.

Biohydrogen- Worth a closer look.
I spent today collecting new samples of strains of fast growing microalgae with Travis Leogrande one of our field researcher.
We are looking into a very insidious form of algae to "repurpose".
We also came across this interesting snippet courtesy of the Wikipedia:
"Algae can be grown to produce biohydrogen. In 1939 a German researcher named Hans Gaffron, while working at the University of Chicago, observed that the algae he was studying, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (a green-alga), would sometimes switch from the production of oxygen to the production of hydrogen.[7] Gaffron never discovered the cause for this change and for many years other scientists failed to repeat his findings. In the late 1990s professor Anastasios Melis, a researcher at the University of California at Berkeley, discovered that if the algae culture medium is deprived of sulfur it will switch from the production of oxygen (normal photosynthesis), to the production of hydrogen. He found that the enzyme responsible for this reaction is hydrogenase, but that the hydrogenase lost this function in the presence of oxygen. Melis found that depleting the amount of sulfur available to the algae interrupted its internal oxygen flow, allowing the hydrogenase an environment in which it can react, causing the algae to produce hydrogen. [8] Chlamydomonas moeweesi is ... a good strain for the production of hydrogen.
Source:
en.wikipedia.org"
We believe we can create a similar effect from Lyngbya sp. but we need further consultation. We are going to attempt to verify some information with a USF professor.
I have not yet spoken with him, but intend on contacting him.
We also believe we are a good candidate for a particular grant with our Non-profit
side of Venturi Industries.

In The Lab
This week some of our staff will be working on a special algae hybridization project,
if successful we could be one of the first Green companies that are producing our
own special algae strain for high oil production volumes.
The different approaches we are taking are:
1. Focusing on those micro algae we have found to contain an oil content of up to 70%+
2. Generation modeling
3. Hybridization of micro algae with high oil characteristics to produce larger
micro algae cells by volume.
Bigger truely is better, a larger surface area is a higher concentration of oil
per cm*. I don't know of any other labs focusing on becoming algae farms for the
specific purpose of selling seed plants.
We believe this will give us a definitive edge in these new markets.
We will be looking at data from Utah State University, in one of their projects
they state by using light more efficiently they can yield a 10 to 20x higher
surface area.
The specifics:
Upon analyzing Cladophora sp. with a surface area of (63.5 m2/g, N2 gas adsorption)
under an atomic force microscope, we surmise from our generation model that
the new strain Aerodifus sp. would have a surface area of roughly surface area (76.3 m2/g, N2 gas adsorption) after crystalization of cells in both cell structures
are allowed to take place.
This process would allow for the production of cellulose powder for easier processing.
This process would happen at the end of the life cycle before drying and gasification.

Rapid growing micro-algae discovery
We believe to have discovered a strain of micro-algae that grows at the highest rate out of all the different 30,000 or so types.
This particular algae may surpass the Spinulina in reproducing.

New Prototype Design
Here is the Mark II of "The Breeze units"
THIS is the TRUE POWER of OPEN SOURCE, within ONE WEEK of the original prototype
(an improved windbelt) the old prototype is already obsolete.
We are trying to get green energy technology to advance as fast as computer technology.
WeMedia Presentation
#wemedia
Note: This is not a transcript, this is the original presentation we prepared for the presentation in its original unmodified form.
The Venturi Wind Venturis
Allen Gagle
Hello my name is Allen Gagle from Venturi Wind Ventures, I am here to speak to you
today about our goals and current projects.
I do ask that you hold off all your questions until the end of the
presentation and I will try and answer your questions at that time.
Companies like Sony may have not invented the Television, but that has not kept them from
improving and innovating, which has allowed for their enormous success. Our business is
very much the same, like many other green technology start-ups, we are innovating
and are striving to become the industry standard.
I firmly believe that alternative energy is a viable business with room for rapid growth.
as recently mentioned in Business Week:
"The research firm New Energy Finance estimates that venture capital and private equity
investments in clean energy will grow at an annual compound rate of 17% through 2013."
Media will play an important part in this rapid growth of this new industry.
While most companies want to focus on maximum economic gain
we are looking at maximum social benefit.
The importance of Media in our project would be to
Establish Community driven website (S.H.A.R.E.)
S.H.A.R.E. is the Social Hub For Alternative Renewable Energy Club
A Community driven club with local chapters involving youth and
amateur electronics enthusiasts.
Community evolvement is essential,
Amateur Scientist Clubs, Rocket Builders Clubs, Robotics Clubs,
Ham Radio operator clubs and Computer Building clubs have spawned
countless innovations in electronics, radio and computer technologies.
However over the years interests in these organizations have declined.
We believe it is important to start grass roots organizations and clubs in communities throughout
the world- from schools, local organizations and local libraries involving communities directly.
Media will also play an important role in the sharing of ideas,
we will be the first Green Technology company to utilize Open Source
in our design and development process.
A new concept has been Open Sourcing, we feel
that this is an integral component of future innovations.
Many great minds outweigh the solitary
inventor, and I feel that this is a valuable resource which will allow
for a quantum shift in advancing of this technology.
I would like to talk about our business model for a moment.
Diversification is an important part of the overall business model,
diversification in an industry ensures that the business continues profiting throughout the wax and wane
of fickle new markets such as alternative energy.
In addition to using the power of media our business model also includes recycling electronics
components.
A successful business in our local area, Star Asset Recovery, have
been very successful with their business of recycling computer components that would have
ended up in landfills. We look to them as an important case study in how we should
pursue our recycling operations utilizing old electronics components.
Our principal plan includes further research and development of our Green Technologies
one of which is Venturi Wind Ventures "The Breeze" which recently this week we
have been developing the Second generation, which no longer uses a belt type design
but a membrane diaphragm, which we hope to be making public here in a few short
weeks.
What we do have to show you is the video from our Mark I unit, which we will show you now.
We have a very broad world view.
"Think globally - Act Locally" Is the general philosophy in any new
venture. However there comes a time to also act globally as well.
We have long term plans that include introducing new
industries to third world countries, that we believe would change
or perhaps even save lives.
[Successes:]
I want to take a moment to talk about the recent successes
There have been many successes recently in the field of alternative energy:
Florida Power has successfully converted the Wildlife Encounter Pavilion of the
Homosassa State Wildlife Park to Hydrogen power using Hydrogen fuel cells.
A company called Lebone in Africa is using fuel cells to provide much needed
lighting for emergency workers and residents.
China Energy Group has developed Solar Thermal technology that replaces Solar Cells
plants in the southwest have the capability of producing 3 Gigawatts of power, which
is enough power for 1 million homes.
We have improved existing Wind Belt technology to gain an additional efficiencies
and are seeking independent verification of our research.
[Barriers To Entry:]
Any successful business at one point or another requires analyzing the existing or potential
barriers to entry in their particular field. Our obstacles are educating the public, fickle markets
and resources. We firmly believe that we are overcoming these obstacles every day and
that success is imminent.
In Conclusion:
What awaits is a Paradigm shift - the great movement toward a common goal
of changing the very infrastructure of our current system, both in technological and economic
terms.
Although our goals are many, over the course of 5 years it is our belief that each and every
goal can be achieved if we work together to make these things a reality. Together we can
reduce our energy independence to 50% and perhaps altogether in the future.
We can accomplish this goal from help of strong communities and the power of media.

Our pitch guy Joseph Williams is still in North Carolina, so me being a Techie
that would rather write code, bombed the presentation awesomely. Woot.
I am thankful to wemedia for the opportunity to perhaps open at least one mind in the process.
But it seems like its popular to talk about change, oh its the trendy thing,
but its a little harder to actually make change happen.
Which is why we exist.
Period.

New discovery
We might be onto something quiet large.
When I return on Feb 26th, I will be starting a very important experiment
on Feb 27th.
If it is correct it could be the Eureka! moment of the century.
It might also prove to be completely fruitless, but we need to know either way.
The potential knowledge gained would be worth risking a failed experiment.
When I return on Feb 26th, I will be starting a very important experiment
on Feb 27th.
If it is correct it could be the Eureka! moment of the century.
It might also prove to be completely fruitless, but we need to know either way.
The potential knowledge gained would be worth risking a failed experiment.

Our 10 Year Plan
The Venturi Wind Ventures
Allen Gagle
10 YEAR PLAN
From Business Week:
"The research firm New Energy Finance estimates that venture capital and private equity
investments in clean energy will grow at an annual compound rate of 17% through 2013."
Forward:
Companies like Sony may have not invented the Television, but that has not
kept them from improving and innovating, which has allowed for their enormous success. Our business is very much the same, like many other green technology start-ups, we are innovating and are striving to become the industry standard.
1. Consultancy: Providing valuable consulting to other green start-ups.
2. Wind Power: Researching, developing and producing of sub 100 watt and 100 watt+ systems (up to the Kilo Watt or Mega Watt range) relating to Wind Belt and Wind Turbine systems.
3. Water Power: Researching, developing and producing multi watt buoy systems which
is utilizing our "The Breeze" technology and is encapsulating it into a buoy form factor.
4. Dynamic Energy Systems: Utilizing Piezoelectric systems for building into roadway along with the normal aggregate for generating electricity from road traffic, researching gyroscopic energy generation systems (for later implementing into our Buoy systems.)
5. Solar Power: Recycling electronic components to produce solar power using a new system. We are currently researching the re-purposing recycled transistors into new solar energy applications.
6. Fuel Production: Algae Farming to produce bio fuels.
7. Open Source Engineering: A new concept of the century has been Open Sourcing, we feel that this is an integral component of future innovations. Many great minds outweigh the solitary inventor, and a necessary resource incorporating into a quantum shift in advancing of any new technology.
8. Acquisitions: We plan on acquiring other green technology businesses we feel are innovating in the field of alternative energy.
9. Community Involvement: Amateur Scientist Clubs, Amateur Rocket Builders Clubs, Robotics Clubs, Amateur Radio Societies, Ham Radio operator clubs and Computer Building clubs have spawned countless innovations in electronics, radio and computer technologies. What is missing are formal organizations for green technology from young and amateur experimenters. It is imperative to get the youth and more citizens interested and involved in future energy advancements.
We believe it is important to start grass roots organizations and clubs in communities throughout the world- from schools, local organizations and local libraries involving communities directly.
10. Recycling: Another successful business in our local area is Star Asset Recovery, they have been very successful with their business of recycling computer components that would have ended up in landfills. We look to them as an important case study in how we should pursue our recycling operations utilizing old electronics components.
Copper is a valuable commodity, currently at $1.43 USD per pound with a very good future outlook, is just one of the many benefits of recycling electronics components and producing new components for the production of Wind Turbines and Generators.
*Footnote relating to our recycling endeavors:
Reclaiming Energy: A large percentage of lost energy can be reclaimed again using
drainage turbines, parasitic turbines, Joule Thief circuitry, etc.. We have learned that we should not waste food, but we waste electricity every day in the form of lost energy. We can be making changes now for reclaiming all this lost energy.
Benefits would include: Improving energy efficiency, tapping unused energy sources and
keeping batteries out of land fills longer.
Business Plan:
Like any good business model, diversification is an important part of the overall business model, diversification in an industry ensures that the business continues profiting throughout the wax and wane of fickle new markets such as alternative energy.
Challenges:
What awaits us is achieving a Paradigm shift - the great movement toward a common goal
of changing the very infrastructure of our current system, both in technological and economic terms.
Keeping An Open Mind:
Like all new technology, it was once considered alien and obscure, now these inventions are common place. We must keep an open mind about new sources of power, there are new technologies of interest that may be fringe science now, but in the future may have its place in all our lives. Technologies such as Atmospheric Vortex Engines, Lenzless Generators, Bio Circuits, Nano Technology and Organic Solar cells merit much research and simply cannot be ignored.
Certain advances may not be currently feasible, but may become a possibility in the near future. Ignoring new technology would be ignoring the benefits to mankind.
Successes:
Florida Power has successfully converted the Wildlife Encounter Pavilion of the
Homosassa State Wildlife Park to Hydrogen power using Hydrogen fuel cells.
A company called Lebone in Africa is using fuel cells to provide much needed
lighting for emergency workers and residents.
China Energy Group has developed Solar Thermal technology that replaces Solar Cells
plants in the southwest have the capability of producing 3 Gigawatts of power, which
is enough power for 1 million homes.
We have improved existing Wind Belt technology to gain an additional 30% efficiency
and are seeking independent verification of our research.
Barriers To Entry:
Any successful business at one point or another requires analyzing the existing or potential barriers to entry in their particular field. Our obstacles are educating the public, fickle markets and resources. We firmly believe that we are overcoming these obstacles every day and that success is imminent.
In Conclusion:
Although our goals are many, over the course of 10 years it is our belief that each and every goal can be achieved if we work together to make these things a reality. Together we can reduce our energy independence to 50% and perhaps altogether in the future.

Our World Goals
World View:
We have a very broad world view.
"Think globally - Act Locally" Is the general philosophy in any new
venture. However there comes a time to also act globally as well.
We have long term plans that include introducing new
industries to third world countries, that we believe would change
or perhaps save lives.
The current problem.
Engineers with MIT and other universities are working in poor countries such as
Hiati, in order to try and improve living conditions by introducing new technologies
and industries, such as LED lighting, solar water distillation and new forms of
cooking fuels - such as the recently developed bio mass charcoal briquettes.
However - The problem is that engineers are very good at engineering, but
unfortunately very poor at understanding economics. Our approach would be
to also involve economics experts to assist in developing micro economic
changes that could develop into a sustained improvement on the general
quality of life in these countries.
